Introduce yourself and your little one!
Hello! I'm Shereen Jupp, founder & editor of Mother Muse a coffee table book dedicated to mothers. My daughter is Adaline Rose (1 years old) and I am currently pregnant with a little one on the way (& almost halfway done!)
Can you tell us a bit about what you do?
I curate a thoughtfully put together coffee table book celebrating the beauty of motherhood with high-end editorials, artwork, interviews, articles and much more.
How has having your little one changed your daily routine?
In every way possible.
What’s your favorite family-time activity?
Describe your little one in 3 words:
It's hard to describe her with just three words but, I would say she is very smart, adventurous, and absolutely adorable.
We love your gorgeous Mother Muse coffee table books - can you give us some insight on the inspiration behind the concept?
Mother Muse was a passion project that started about six months after having my daughter - I wanted to give back to the women that inspire me day in and day out. Of course, my inspiration was becoming a mother myself and noticing this void in the fashion and magazine market. Mothers deserve to be taken care of and thought about.
What's your favorite part about making the Mother Muse editions?
The covers and the inspiring, powerful mothers I interview.
Can you tell us about an especially inspiring mom that you've met while making Mother Muse?
I didn't meet her in person as I am based in Vancouver, BC but, when speaking with Jaime King for her interview (our current cover muse) she was so passionate. It was extremely humbling to speak to a woman so open about her experience with conceiving and her journey into motherhood. I think it's a beautiful thing when women can express honesty and by doing so inspiring each other and Jaime King did just that.
What’s one thing you didn’t expect that came from being a mom?
I believe we are all aware of the concept of love that comes with becoming a mother (and parent), but no words can describe and prepare you for the sacrifice and abundance of love you feel the moment you actually enter motherhood. I didn't know that I had this much of it inside me until I had my daughter and it continues to grow every day, your children become the truest definition of soul-mate.
How do you unwind?
Walking outside and being in nature, reading a good book and Netflix haha.
How do you prioritize work and family-time when you’re your own boss? Do you ever find it hard to get work totally off your mind?
I am constantly working and I am still learning to turn it off when it's bedtime. My family always comes first spending time with them is so precious to me. I feel I have an excellent balance of work & family-time but can admit I still am learning to turn work off before the day ends.
What’s one piece of advice you would give your pregnant self?
I am currently pregnant with my second and I am constantly telling myself to enjoy this growing period with my baby and to take advantage of the sleep I have right now because soon I will have two babies...and I am a little terrified, haha.
